SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENT INITIATED PROJECT

Due to the coronavirus pandemic that hit Singapore, my friend and I were troubled when we came across news about how our unsung heroes were treated rudely in public spaces. The tribute song to healthcare workers was a self-initiated project planned by us that featured the students of our school. It is a self-composed song by my friends that reflects our appreciation to our unsung healthcare workers. The video produced, complete with an original song of dedication, has won the first prize in the #WeStandVidYou video clip competition organized by the NYAA Gold Award Holders' Alumni.

POINT & SHOOT 2022: 55-HOUR SHORT FILM CHALLENGE

Synopsis: Silhouette is a bittersweet story of a girl who must complete a song that her best friend was unable to finish to not let her become a shadow of the past.

KING OF HAWKERS

Synopsis: In the film, veteran actress Liu Lingling portrays Luo Yuping, a woman suffering from dementia. Despite her condition, Luo Yuping possesses an acute sense of taste for food, which becomes a crucial part of the movie’s plot. Luo Yuping’s character may have a romantic subplot with Liu Derong, played by renowned Singaporean actor Hugo Ng. This film marks the first time Liu Lingling and Hugo Ng have worked together.

Genre: Thriller

Synopsis: Fang Yi's life is controlled by her mother, and she is forced to eat gruesome food like pig's brain every day as her mother believes it is the way Fang Yi can do her best in upcoming A-level exam. Such a life is almost overwhelming to Fang Yi. Eventually, Fang Yi develops Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). Her mother’s extreme love and expectation for Fang Yi makes her wants to escape from such abnormal maternal love.

Synopsis: Being the only 24-hour suicide hotline in Singapore, the volunteers at SOS work day in and day out to lend a listening ear to those struggling with their mental health. Hotline operators talk about the challenges they face and the impact that these callers have on them.

Longline: A close friendship is thrown into disarray when a lonely teenage girl discovers her close friends is not what she seems to be, causing a rift between them.

Synopsis: Moving homes and switching schools frequently resulted in An Yu’s loneliness. However, her life changes with the arrival of Chen Xi, whom she later discovers that her newfound friend is not what she seems to be. The friendship between them starts to fall apart.
